Title: Families Achieving Competency Together (F.A.C.T): A psychoeducational family-centered program for families with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder in Sub-Saharan Africa.

 

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Evaluate cultural, socio-economic, and healthcare-related variables to determine the prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  2. Identify a minimum of 2 gaps in research, emphasizing the critical need for targeted interventions in family education for Autism Spectrum Disorder in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  3. Describe 2 concrete strategies to foster inclusion and advocate for individuals with ASD and other disabilities within the distinctive socio-cultural context of Sub-Saharan Africa.
  4. Develop a comprehensive understanding of the distinctive role of occupational therapists in Sub-Saharan Africa, specifically focusing on their contributions to Autism Spectrum Disorder, and illustrate their multifaceted involvement as advocates and educators across diverse cultural settings in promoting awareness, education, and intervention.
